We are incredibly proud to celebrate our students’ outstanding achievements in the 2025 British Biology Olympiad (BBO), a prestigious national competition that saw 18,533 students from 1,053 schools across the country take part. Our talented biologists achieved record-breaking results, with:
🏅 3 students ranking in the top 5%, earning Gold medals
🥈 4 students placing in the top 10%, securing Silver medals
🥉 7 of our entrants achieving Bronze medals (top 15%)
🎖️ 9 students also gaining Highly Commended awards
These exceptional results highlight the dedication, knowledge, and problem-solving skills of our students, who tackled advanced university-level biological challenges with confidence and determination.
In an extraordinary achievement, our three Gold medallists have now qualified for the next stage of selection for the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). This exceptionally challenging global competition brings together the best young biologists from around the world, testing not only their theoretical knowledge and practical skills but also their ability to read, analyse, and interpret a pre-given degree-level research paper. This aspect of the competition pushes students to think outside the box, applying their understanding to cutting-edge biological research in ways that go far beyond the school curriculum. We will keep you posted on their success!
As we look ahead to the 2026 competition, we aim to build on this success, continuing to push and stretch our biologists to reach even greater heights. The BBO provides a unique opportunity for students to test themselves beyond the curriculum, strengthening their scientific thinking and preparing them for future studies in biology-related fields.
We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing our next cohort rise to the challenge once again and beat this fantastic Benenden record.
