On Friday, we welcomed 300 STEM students from 8 schools for an inspiring convention celebrating innovation and real-world problem-solving.
We opened with a vibrant Careers Fair, featuring representatives from the Army, Pfizer, Engineering sectors, Sheffield University, and the Royal Veterinary College who gave students a first-hand look at the exciting futures STEM can lead to.
Next came an immersive workshop from Counterspike, showing how STEM is applied to tackle real challenges. Students stepped into a simulated nightclub to explore the science behind drink-spiking detection, learnt how to recognise signs of spiking, and discussed strategies for staying safe. @counterspikeglobal also shared insights into their business and marketing journey, from idea to product launch.
We then heard from George Gaskell, Professor of Social Psychology and Research Methodology at the LSE, who explored how our perception of risk shapes decision-making and how behavioural research influences real government policy.
The day concluded with students presenting their own STEM projects and research, celebrating creativity and hard work, with awards going to the most outstanding contributions.
A huge thank you to all our speakers, partners and the brilliant students who made the day a powerful showcase of what the next generation of innovators can achieve.
