GCSE students at Benenden School have today achieved results that are among the School’s strongest on record.
An outstanding 84 per cent of all grades were at Levels 9-7 – the highest seen at Benenden for more than a decade, excluding in 2021 and 2022 when pandemic exam measures were still in place.
Incredibly, four students are celebrating a clean sweep of 12 grades all at Level 9 – the highest available. Another six students achieved at least 10 Level 9 grades.
Overall, 42 per cent of all Benenden’s grades were at Level 9, while 64 per cent were Levels 9-8.
In her first official act as Benenden’s new Headmistress, Rachel Bailey said: “I would like to congratulate every single member of the year group for their outstanding achievements.
“Results like this only come from enormous levels of hard work: primarily from the girls themselves but also from the teachers and the fabulous support network available to students at Benenden, whether in academic support or through the extensive wellbeing provision in House.”
Ms Bailey added: “One of the reasons I joined Benenden was its forward-thinking commitment to offering girls A Complete Education, which combines an innovative curriculum with a programme of activities that genuinely prepares students for their futures. Today’s impressive results show that this academic approach is certainly working at Benenden.
“We look forward to these students moving into Benenden’s Sixth Form where they will become excellent role models for the younger girls and I am sure they will continue to flourish.”

Today’s results mirror the success last week of Benenden’s Sixth Formers, when A Level results were at their strongest for eight years with an outstanding 68 per cent of all Benenden’s grades at A* or A.
Benenden’s innovative curriculum adopts an enquiry-led approach and also features the Electives Programme, offering short courses in professional areas such as sign language, meteorology and metacognition, and Inclusive Leadership which focuses on the behaviours and creative problem-solving required by modern workplaces.
In the Sixth Form all students complete the Professional Skills Programme, a two-year course teaching the skills needed to thrive in the workplace and beyond, including modules such as financial literacy, psychometric testing and the renowned Enterprise Challenge in which teams launch their own businesses.
Benenden School is regarded as one of the leading girls’ schools in the UK. Set in 250 acres of Kentish parkland, it offers boarding and a limited number of day places.
Benenden is holding a Sixth Form open evening on 12 September and several open days throughout the Autumn Term. More information and booking available at www.benenden.school/opendays
