Would you like the opportunity to not only teach your subject, but inspire and explore your passion for Biology beyond the curriculum at a prestigious centre of excellence for Science and STEM? We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and experienced Biology Teacher to be an integral part of our successful, supportive, and innovative team, providing stimulating Science education within our superbly equipped Science Centre.

Biology is an incredibly popular subject choice at A Level, with a significant number of students opting to advance their studies in the field beyond the IGCSE, leading to many pursuing futures in the subject in disciplines such as Natural Science, Medicine, Veterinary Science, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Zoology, and Physiology, seeking places at Oxbridge and other leading Universities. We would especially like to hear from you if you are passionate about the next generation loving science and continuing their journeys into Science and STEM-related pathways in their futures. As a member of the team, you would support and contribute to our vast array of enrichment activities, ranging from collaborative University-linked research projects, Science and STEM outreach and partnership work with local schools, charities and communities, national and international Science competitions, qualifications such as EPQs and Crest awards, and much more.

Through our ethos of A Complete Education, at Benenden we are profoundly committed to education in its broadest sense. Our unique educational approach enables every student to thrive within this close and nurturing community.

We want to attract, retain, and develop talent at all levels, so that we are a great school, but also so that our students feel and understand the power and depth of a diverse community. This means recruiting from the widest possible pool of talent and fostering a fully inclusive environment which maximises collaboration and empowers everyone.

Benenden can offer a very attractive salary and if desired a comprehensive training programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status through School Direct. Staff are provided with meals whilst on duty: we hold an award for the best independent school food in the UK! The School’s leisure facilities, including wonderful grounds, a fitness gym and swimming pool are also available for staff to use. For graduates undertaking further research such as an MA or PhD, we could make space for this within your timetable.

If you would like to know more about the role, have never considered independent schools or would like to find out more, do contact us on recruitment@benenden.school.

For a full job description and to apply, please download the application form below. Completed applications should be sent to People Services at recruitment@benenden.school by Friday 31 March. The School reserve the right to interview candidates as applications are received.

Benenden School is committed to equal opportunities and equal pay for all employees. Whilst Benenden isn’t accredited to the Living Wage Foundation, we do look to the Living Wage for guidance and our starting pay is currently in line with this.
