Benenden was enormously privileged to host the world-renowned pianist Angela Hewitt for a concert last week, when she also provided some mentoring to a handful of music students.
Upper Fifth (Year 11) students Melanie, Abigail and Elsie played music by Bach, Mozart and Chaminade to Angela in front of a small group of staff and piano students. As well as being highly complimentary about their performances, Angela’s advice and insights on technique, memorising music and practice were incredibly helpful for all in attendance.
At her main performance, Angela’s programme of Bach and Mozart captivated a large audience comprising members of the public, staff, parents and students. The Centenary Hall’s acoustics sounded superb as she showcased a spectacular Yamaha CFX concert grand piano which had been kindly loaned to Benenden for the occasion.
