A Benenden School student is embarking on an exciting four-year programme combining university study with a prestigious apprenticeship – and will graduate with a degree, a professional qualification and a guaranteed job.
Rose Brabyn, 18, achieved an A* in Economics and two As in Geography and Biology and is heading to Newcastle University to study Business Accounting and Finance alongside a PwC apprenticeship. Her first year will be fully at Newcastle before she begins a three-year rotation, spending one term each year working for PwC – earning £9,000 for each placement term. By the end of the programme, she will have a degree from Newcastle, ICAEW Chartered Accountant status and a role at PwC.
PwC will subsidise her degree costs and give her the option to choose from five of their offices for her placements.
Rose said: “When I was looking at degrees in Six One, I had no idea what I wanted to study. I really liked the idea of an apprenticeship but didn’t want to miss out on the university experience. This course gives me both.”
Reflecting on her time at Benenden, she added: “I absolutely loved it. Benenden gave me a lot of confidence and taught me to try everything. There are so many clubs, activities and societies here, so I tried many things, developed my confidence and made lots of incredible friendships.
“I fully intend to join as many societies as possible at Newcastle and hope the friendships I make there will compare to the incredible friendships I made at Benenden.”
