On Saturday students travelled to Reigate Grammar school for their first MUN conference of the year.
Representing China, Chad, Norway and Germany, delegates were involved in all committees as well as both Security Council and Historical Security Council.
Questions across the committees were varied and challenging. The Security Council tackled the question of Iran and Israel and the question of the India and Pakistan Kashmir conflict.
Other present day issues discussed included the question of corruption through illegal financial flows, the question of organ trafficking and the question of climate-induced public health emergencies.
Meanwhile, Historical Security Council focused on the question of the Falkland Islands in 1982 and the question of tension and conflict in the Gulf Regions around the time of the 1990. Our delegates researched and prepared well, engaging in spirited debate over the course of the conference.
With strong performances from a number of our more experienced delegates, special congratulations are due to Wendy, who was singled out in the Security Council with the Most Highly Commended Award.
