Students Host an Afternoon with Roshni Nadar

Students in the Sixth Form had the unique privilege of hosting a recent virtual talk with Roshni Nadar, Chairperson of HCL Technologies and the first woman to lead a listed IT company in India. The talk gave a fascinating insight into Roshni’s career background, having previously studied Film and Television and worked at Sky News in London, then studying further at the Kellogg School of Management before joining her father’s tech company back in India. She also spoke in depth about her role and experience at HCL Technologies, offering valuable insight to students with aspirations in the world of Technology, as well as her efforts in running boarding schools for under-privileged students in India.

Asked about her experience as a woman in the tech industry, Roshni said: “I think you just have to keep it moving. Everybody’s always going to have an opinion. You’re there to do a certain job and you just have to keep it moving.

“At HCL technologies, we’re one of the only companies that actually has four woman directors on the board. We drive diversity, inclusion and equity through the board.

“I think it’s about changing cultural mindset. It takes time, but I think it’s important to address those biases.”
