Students from across the School recently enjoyed a fantastic Taste of The Weekend Programme event, launching the programme into the year ahead with a host of exciting activities.
The Weekend Programme is aligned with Benenden’s offering of A Complete Education (ACE) and delivers a range of fun activities and events which correlate to the five overarching ACE themes: Creativity and Culture, Mind and Spirit, Global Awareness, Skills for Life and Physical Health and Wellbeing.
The recent Taste of The Weekend Programme event hosted activities from each ACE category which included a zipwire that saw girls soar through the treetops above Benenden, guided meditation, massage classes, professional face painting, a photobooth, arcade and dance machines, an inflatable bungee run, giant inflatable twister, Panna street football, Capoeira (a Brazilian martial art) and more.
As well as the plethora of activities available, pupils also sampled the delights of several restaurants which specialise in West African, Thai and Mexican cuisine.
Throughout a student’s time at Benenden, The Weekend Programme supports their development across key areas of the ACE aspirations. As girls progress through year groups at Benenden the focus will change to ensure The Weekend Programme is offering key learning experiences at the right time.
The Fourth and Upper Fourth focus on fun and friendship (Physical Health and Wellbeing), the Lower Fifth and Fifth focus on problem-solving and trying new experiences (Skills for Life) and the Upper Fifth focus on developing balance in life (Mind and Spirit). All of this happens whilst having fun and trying a huge range of activities!
Whilst also having time to relax and have fun, the Sixth Form utilise their time in The Weekend Programme to gain a range of qualifications in vocations including customer service, fire marshalling, complaint handling, conflict management, navigation and seamanship, equality and diversity, health and safety and first aid – amongst many others.
