Sixth Form Historian Wins Essay-Writing Prize

Six Two (Year 13) student Sophie recently attended an awards ceremony at the Atheneaum Club in London.

Sophie was invited to the event after she finished second in an essay competition run by the Foundation for the History of Totalitarianism.Her essay on the Stasi was, according to the judges, ‘very well researched and written’ and demonstrated ‘excellent thought’.The evening also included a talk by the historian Roger Moorhouse, musical performances on the theme of freedom and a focus on the situation in Ukraine, including two Ukrainian refugees singing the Ukrainian national anthem.
