Six Twos Celebrated at Speech Day

On Saturday, students, staff and families came together to celebrate the end of the School year at the highlight of the Benenden calendar: Speech Day.

Gathered in the beautiful Rose Garden, families enjoyed speeches from the Headmistress and the Chair of Governing Council, performances from the Choir and the cast of this year’s production of Grease, and the presentation of prizes recognising outstanding student achievement. The ceremony also marked a fond farewell to the departing Six Twos (Year 13s), who passed through the Floral Arch to become the latest cohort of Benenden Seniors.

A particular highlight was the address from Head Girl Georgina, who reflected movingly on her year group’s journey through Benenden and paid tribute to the strength and generosity of the community that had shaped their experience. As tradition dictates, Georgina later planted a rose to commemorate the occasion.

Following the ceremony, students, staff and families gathered on Guldeford Green for a delicious lunch, accompanied by music from student ensembles. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to speak with teachers, Tutors and House staff before wishing the Six Twos every success as they embarked on their next chapter and everyone began a well-earned summer break.
