Benenden’s Sports Day this year was a resounding success, making the most of the beautiful weather and the range of facilities on Top Lax for a variety of excellent athletic activities.
There was a high standard of competition both on the track and in the field, and the relays were particularly exciting with some impressive changeovers. Congratulations are due to each of the gold medal winners: to Norris House for winning the Juniors, Hemsted for the Inters and Guldeford on being crowned the overall champions!
The event also saw new School records set in four categories: Eden, a Fifth (Year 10) in Marshall House set the new shot record at 10m 50cm, Aline (Fifth/Year 10), also in Marshall set the triple jump at 9m 78cm and Georgina (Fifth/Year 10) in Guldeford House set the Javelin record at 32m 92cm.
Finally, Olivia (Lower Fifth/Year 9), Eden, Aline, and Florence (Lower Fifth/Year 9) in Marshall broke the 4 x 100m relay record in 56.91 seconds – a record that had stood since 2008.
