Some 24 visiting schools attended Benenden’s 18th Model United Nations Conference on Monday. Masterfully led by Secretary-General Alishba, her team of fellow Student Officers, Chairs, Admin and Media specialists delivered a highly successful Model UN conference. Following Ms Bailey’s warm welcome at the Opening Ceremony, guests were treated to Alishba’s Sec-Gen speech.
Being truly student-led, planning for and delivering an event on this scale is an impressive feat. It was a true Benenden community team effort, with eight committees, 100 delegations, more than 50 resolutions debate and hundreds of speeches given and points of information made.
Forty Benenden students also attended as delegates. Esther (UNSC, France), Stephanie (HRC, Hungary) and Emily (ECOSOC, Ghana) were simply too good to not be given a mention or an award. So many other excellent performances were highlighted in Committee Chair reports read out at the Closing Ceremony.
