Benenden students are taking part in a series of webinars entitled Meet The Scientist, hosted by Sue Harris, Benenden’s STEM Outreach Coordinator and Professor Becky Parker, Benenden’s Head of Science.The regular Wednesday afternoon initiative showcases a number of speakers from a diverse range of STEM environments who provide pupils with a 15-minute insight into their world of work and answer any questions they may have.
The webinars are part of an ongoing enrichment and extension programme, which includes opportunities to take part in online research projects, as well as completing Bronze and Silver CREST accreditations.The first webinar took place last Wednesday and was particularly topical as Dr Vladimir Gubala, from the University of Kent School of Pharmacy, discussed antibody testing with 34 participants including pupils and staff.
Upcoming webinar topics include cleaning up with chemistry, a day in the life of an engineering consultant and climate change, with several high-profile professors taking up hosting duties.
