Towards the end of term, the Careers Team hosted a special event for Six Two Medicine applicants and students from Fifth (Year 10) upwards who are considering careers in medicine or healthcare.
The evening began with a mentoring session over a delicious supper at School, where Six Two (Year 13) students benefited from the guidance of Orthopaedics Consultant Jamie Buchanan from Conquest Hospital and his team of four junior doctors and medical students.
Following this, a fascinating talk in the Weston Lecture Theatre brought together students from Fifth to Six Two, both in person and online. Benenden was thrilled to also welcome budding medical students from a range of other schools, including Highworth Grammar School, The Folkestone School for Girls, Cranbrook School, Sevenoaks School, The Judd, Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre, Walthamstow Hall and Tonbridge School.
This follows on from another recent careers event where younger Benenden students visited Maidstone Hospital to explore NHS pathways and healthcare opportunities.
The feedback from the evening has been overwhelmingly positive, and thanks go to Mr Buchanan and his team for generously giving their time to inspire and support the students.
