Students in the Fourth (Year 7) and Upper Fourth (Year 8) delighted audiences with their annual Junior Play, this year performing Kevin M. Cunningham’s stage adaptation of Little Women.

A staple of the Benenden calendar, this year’s Junior Play was directed by Six One (Year 12) students Serena, Sophia and Daisy, and offered a highly entertaining, poignant interpretation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic American novel.

Audiences filled the Theatre for two highly successful nights, moved by the actors’ heartfelt performances. Decked out in period costume, pupils relished the opportunity to be part of the production of a timeless tale of sisterly love and female empowerment.

The directors said: “This has been such a great opportunity to bond with the younger year groups and revisit our love for Drama.

“We have always wanted to co-direct a play together, and we have loved working on this adaptation of the beloved book.”
