The third day of this year’s Benenden Arts Festival presented a new opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Lower School, with a special prizegiving ceremony in the Centenary Hall.
The Upper Fourths (Year 8) received their certificates for graduating with their Diplomas, and special awards for subject-specific academic achievements and attitude to learning were awarded to pupils from the Fourth (Year 7) to the Fifth (Year 10). Traditional, named School prizes and honorary School scholarships were also presented to pupils in those years.
Speeches were given by the Headmistress Samantha Price and the Chairman of Governing Council Anna Birkett. Songs were performed both by soloists and by the Lower School Chamber Choir, and the Lower School Drama Scholars gave a dramatic reading of a poem by Amanda Gorman.
The pupils also watched a photo montage of highlights from the last academic year – closing off a suitable celebration for all the effort, determination and excellence they have shown.
