Recent Six Two (Year 13) leaver Olivia, whose outstanding performance in the Biology Olympiad ranked within the top four in the UK, was invited to the Philippines this summer for the International Biology Olympiad.
Representing the UK against competitors from 75 different countries, she did remarkably well and came away with a bronze medal.
Reflecting on her experience, she said:
“It was amazing to meet so many students interested in Biology and to represent the UK. The team and jury were very dedicated. We prepared for the theory and practical exams together, and had a lot of fun as well.
“The exams definitely tested our endurance, with practicals that ended past midnight!
“I really hope Benenden can go to an International Olympiad again.”
