Historic Week for Benenden Cricket

This week has seen two significant milestones for Cricket at Benenden.

The U15 Cricketers travelled to Bede’s School for their first ever Sussex League match. The team competed well against a strong Bede’s side. Simran, a Fifth (Year 10), captained the side brilliantly, and Lower Fifth (Year 9) Clara had the honour of taking the first league wicket for Benenden, clean bowling the Bede’s opening batter with a fantastic delivery.

The U13s travelled to Sutton Valence School for their first ever hardball match. The team gave a great account of themselves. Two wickets from Upper Fourth (Year 8) Madison, and one each for Fourth (Year 7) Martha and Upper Fourth Harriet restricted Sutton Valence to 81/4. In response, Benenden batted well but fell short of the 82 required to win.

Overall, it has been a very exciting week for Cricket at Benenden — we have the feeling that our cricketers are just getting started!
