This week pupils in the Lower Fifth (Year 9) started the Summer Term with a two-day Personal Development Programme which saw them take part in a range of exciting activities.
Students enjoyed stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, mountain biking and even axe throwing at Bewl Water Outdoor Activity Centre – all the while participating in team building challenges. During the course of the day the girls were challenged in a controlled environment to develop resilience and coping strategies that are great life skills and will be further developed throughout the Summer Term.
Back on site at Benenden, pupils spent the day with a specialist development team that specialises in adventure education in the UK. Pupils had great fun putting their problem-solving skills to the test and worked together to solve a range of puzzles and challenges.
The feedback received from the team was positive and this programme provided the Outdoor Educational and Development team with a great starting point to develop more of this type of educational training and, hopefully, introduced the girls to activities that they may like to continue during their time at Benenden.
