Last night the Sixth Form were able to ask questions of Baroness Nicky Morgan in a special live event.
Baroness Morgan joined the event remotely from her home, with Sixth Formers posing questions from the School Theatre.
Morgan was a Cabinet Member under both David Cameron and Boris Johnson – serving as Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities for the former and Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport for the latter.
She stood down from the Cabinet in Johnson’s 2020 reshuffle and is now a life peer in the House of Lords.
In the Benenden event, she answered questions on a range of topics, including Brexit, the Government’s handling of Covid, her voting record on same-sex marriage, being a potential candidate for BBC chairman and encouraging women into politics.
Baroness Morgan was the latest in a string of recent high-profile participants in Benenden’s Speaker Programme, including actor Charles Dance, broadcaster Clare Balding, politician Greg Clark MP and adventurer Ben Fogle.
