Benenden is offering two fully-funded day places in the Sixth Form to local girls as part of our exciting initiative to introduce a limited number of day boarders.
These will be awarded to girls joining our Year 12 day boarders in September, one to a girl with a particular interest in and talent for STEM, and a second to a girl whose enthusiasm lies in Humanities or Languages.
These places are fully funded by the School for the Scholars’ two years at Benenden and are subject to means testing.
Benenden Headmistress Samantha Price said: “We are delighted to be able to offer these fully-funded day places to two local girls who are currently in Year 11. Our Sixth Form is the ideal bridge between school and university and we are looking for girls who will immerse themselves in the wonderful array of opportunities here at Benenden, both inside and outside the classroom.
“STEM, Humanities and Languages at Benenden are incredibly popular here and our Scholars will be able to enjoy a wide range of opportunities to extend their passion for their subject.”
At Benenden we are extremely proud of the enormous impact that our bursary programme has had over the years, not only on the talented young recipients who have gone on to flourish in so many ways in their lives, but also because the student body and the School community as a whole has benefited significantly from each recipient’s contributions.
Amber Donovan-Stevens, who joined Benenden on a full bursary at the age of 11 and went on to become the School’s Head Girl, is a strong advocate for bursaries. She said: “I cannot begin to explain everything that Benenden has done for me. I have had opportunities provided that I had never imagined.”
From September, Benenden will welcome a small number of day boarders – a standard industry term for a pupil who attends on a daily basis rather than boarding – in Years 9 and 12.
Day boarders will play a very large part in Benenden life. They will be joining existing boarding houses and, along with their boarding peers, will be attending lessons and sports matches on Saturdays as well as major school events on some weekends. They will also be encouraged to participate in some of the 150 co-curricular activities available outside of lesson times, including in the evenings.
Benenden School offers an array of superb facilities, including a purpose-built Theatre, state-of-the-art Science Centre, swimming pool, all-weather sports pitch and a beautiful Eco-Classroom. We are currently constructing a new School Hall and Music School, a development which will create one of the South East’s foremost concert halls.
We offer innovative teaching and learning experiences, including the highly-regarded Professional Skills Programme teaching Sixth Formers professional and life skills. We also offer a first-class pastoral support programme and regularly welcome high-profile speakers on a range of topics.
