Curiouser and Curiouser: Lower School Triumph in Alice in Wonderland

Students in the Lower School enraptured audiences with their psychedelic, ’60s-inspired stage adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Following dedicated rehearsals across the Spring Term, students from Year 7 to 9 were thrilled to finally share their high-energy, surreal production with their families and friends across two performances.

With music and costume inspired by the icons of the 1960s – nods to Jimi Hendrix and Audrey Hepburn complemented songs from Jefferson Airplane and The Doors – the production also incorporated innovative use of screens for an immersive realisation of Alice’s madcap odyssey.

Familiar favourites such as the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare had the audience in stitches, while a wide-eyed Alice and a tempestuous Queen of Hearts led with dynamic and captivating performances.

The acting, staging and all-round joy on display throughout led to a truly memorable showcase of the Lower School students’ talent and maturity.
