Benenden was thrilled to welcome the renowned young cellist Laura van der Heijden last week, offering advice to Benenden students as well as a mesmerising performance.
Along with pianist Jâms Coleman, Laura spent the afternoon giving masterclasses and discussing musical matters with our very strong cohort of cellists. They then gave a spellbinding recital of music to the students and the wider public in the evening.
Laura won BBC Young Musician of the Year when she was just 15, and is now, at the age of 26, at the forefront of the new generation of classical music stars.
It was inspiring for the students to hear a musician of her quality up close, and to glean plenty of top tips for their practice.
