Campus to Corporate Week

The Summer Programme for the Upper Fifth and Six Two – the year groups whose summer exams have been cancelled – continues this week with Stage Three: Campus to Corporate Week.

The programme of activities, which span the last full week before the end of term, are all associated with gaining the skills necessary to thrive in the workplace.

Sessions include:

  • Creating a professional CV
  • Making the most of internships and work experience
  • Using LinkedIn
  • Understanding employment law
  • Working well in teams
  • Maths for the workplace
  • The importance of savings and pensions

Some girls will be using this week to undertake volunteering, remote or live work experience and internships to give them a taste of the world of work.

Several Seniors and parents will be speaking live this week about their careers and we are especially excited about the release of Career Journeys; a new series of films which sees leading employees from a variety of professions speak out about their jobs and what they entail.

As well as the focus on workplace skills, many girls are also using this week to complete the Level 2 Food Hygiene course and some of the other Summer Leap Programme enrichment courses, such as Film Studies, continue this week.

So far, the Summer Leap Programme has seen girls enjoy many optional enrichment courses such as Sign Language, Archaeology, Coding, Excel, First Aid, Cookery and Nannying, to name but a few.

More than 20 Six Two students have capitalised on this unexpected period of free time (due to exams being cancelled) to undertake a university-level TEFL course, take part in a remote international exchange with US students or complete a Level Three Institute of Leadership and Management Award. Alternatively, some girls decided to follow a programme of academic lectures and have produced fascinating 2,000 word essays.
