More than 70 teachers from around the country, in the first or second year of their career, came together recently for an Early Career Teachers’ conference.
Visiting teachers had the chance to learn about a variety of topics, from neuroscience to using your voice in the classroom to good practice in marking and assessment.
Supported by the Ogden Trust, we were fortunate to be able to host not only expert staff from Benenden and our partner school, The John Wallis Church of England Academy, but external speakers such as Professor Patricia Riddell and Professor Becky Parker.
The day ended with subject staff sharing tips and resources, alongside tea and a tour of the School.
The conference is one of the many ways Benenden supports local schools and training teachers. The School also works closely with the teacher training company EQualitas, with two of our staff working as external tutors for the company and supporting teachers in their first year.
Additionally, each year Benenden host second school placements for teachers training within the maintained sector, as well as hosting local students at maintained schools at events like our Oxbridge information evening and lectures.
