Benenden was delighted to host its Careers, Higher Education and Futures Convention recently.
The School welcomed delegates from top UK and international universities, gap year organisations, the armed forces, companies and career representatives to talk to current students, parents, staff and several visiting schools.
The Convention gave students the chance to discuss and learn about life in higher education, application processes, apprenticeship schemes and career pathways – not to mention opportunities to travel and volunteer during gap years.
Amongst the attendees were universities including Durham, Exeter, Warwick, Sheffield, Nottingham, University of the Arts, Jimmy Choo Academy and many others.
International higher education was represented by Study Options (Australia and New Zealand), Burnett Global Education Ltd, Les Roches and Glion, CETT (Barcelona), the University of British Columbia and Savannah College of Art and Design.
A-List Education and A Star Future were also on hand to talk to students and parents about applying to overseas universities and preparing for US admissions tests.
Elsewhere, students heard from a variety of gap year organisations offering support with travelling, volunteering and working opportunities. Help was at hand with preparation, including Language Schools and Skiing-based gap years.
In addition to the stalls, the School hosted eight workshops covering topics such as making an application to a selective UK university, writing a UCAS personal statement, studying at universities abroad and a career in The Navy.
The Convention was a buzzing throng of activity and the School was particularly pleased to welcome over 300 pupils, teachers and parents from eight other local schools.
Thank you to all the delegates for investing so much time in advising students, parents and visitors.
