Benenden Hosts an Evening with Karen Bradley MP

Benenden is delighted to have been able to welcome Karen Bradley MP into School in person for a question and answer session. Mrs Bradley, a minister in Theresa May’s Cabinet whose former posts include those of Northern Ireland Secretary and Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, spoke to a live audience of Six One (Year 12) and Politics students in an event that was also live-streamed. Following supper with some of the students, the discussion – expertly hosted by Sophie in Six Two (Year 13) –explored the current political pressure on Boris Johnson at length, as well as a host of other issues including politicians switching parties, House of Lords reform, voting behaviour at elections, MPs bringing babies into Parliament, and Mrs Bradley’s experience of trying to maintain the power-sharing agreement in Northern Ireland.
