On Friday Benenden School enjoyed a whole School street party in honour of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Guldeford Green was awash with red, white and blue as hundreds of students and staff enjoyed a Jubilee party on the final afternoon before Half Term.
Her Majesty The Queen is the School’s most famous former parent, having chosen Benenden to educate her daughter, HRH The Princess Royal, in the 1960s. The School is honoured that HRH The Princess Royal is now the School’s Founders Patron and President of The Benenden Society.
The School’s celebration was held the week before the nation’s formal Jubilee events due to the Half Term break.
With the Union Flag flying above the School buildings and, fittingly, the sun shining strongly, the School enjoyed a delicious barbecue thanks to Benenden’s catering team, with the Headmistress helping to serve the cake.
Headmistress Samantha Price said: “We are incredibly proud of our association with the Royal Family and we would like to congratulate Her Majesty on her magnificent 70-year reign. As a girls’ school we regularly aim to inspire our students with strong female role models and I can think of no better example than Her Majesty to inspire the next generation of young women.
“Friday’s party was a wonderful way to bid farewell to the students for Half Term and was a joyous celebration of this historic occasion. The Platinum Jubilee celebrations were an occasion none of us will ever forget.”
Students were in a non-uniform fundraiser in aid of Ukrainian refugees. Benenden is renowned for the quality of food, having won the Tatler Best Food Award in 2020, and students tucked into a delicious array of meat, salad, cheese and bread before it was time for cake!
