Benenden’s 1st Lacrosse Team recently took part in the Challenge Cup, featuring the top eight teams nationally. We were seeded second going into the event and a convincing win against St Mary’s Calne propelled us into the semi-finals against St Catherine’s. Despite having a couple of very good chances in the first few minutes, we were unable to make our possession count on the scoreboard, and St Catherine’s went on to win. The squad, led by Captain Honor and Vice Captains Florrie and Lauren, were in good spirits as we started the bronze medal play-off against Berkhamsted. The match was very even, with some excellent goal keeping by Nima allowing us to edge ahead. Berkhamsted fought back, and just pipped us by a single goal as the hooter went. Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable day and significant progress was made.
