Benenden is one of the leading boarding schools in the country. Founded in 1923, Benenden School is situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent, the Garden of England. There are 550 girls in the School, aged 11-18.
Reporting to the Finance Bursar and involving regular liaison with both Senior Management and Department Heads, the Finance Manager will oversee the day-to-day financial operations within the School. The Finance Manger will assist the Finance Bursar with the management of the finance team deputising as required; directly line managing the Fees Billing Administrator, Purchase and Accounts Administrators and Assistant Accountant.
Main duties entail the preparation of monthly management accounts and assisting with all statutory accounts, audit file and corporation tax returns for Benenden School (Kent) Limited, Benenden International Limited and Lime Avenue Sales and Services Limited (LASS), the School Shop. Duties also include maintaining balance sheet control for all areas of responsibility and producing the operational budget for the School, leading the review and analysis of annual budgets and assisting with forecasting.
Successful applicants will either be fully qualified accountants (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or other recognised professional accountancy body) or have extensive relevant experience in a similar sized entity. The successful candidate will have advanced excel skills, excellent management skills and ideally have a good working knowledge of Sage. Applicants should be hard working, flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities; be able to assist other roles within the team and step in to provide cover during absence or assist during busy periods.
Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool, are available for staff to use.
