Tennis

Tennis is a thriving sport at Benenden, both in terms of participation and success. We have around 350 pupils receiving regular coaching and this means that the general school level is very high. The ability range is from beginner to elite performance and the successful coaching programme provides for all levels. Group coaching is ability based, and as the players move to the more elite levels there is the opportunity for individual lessons. There are currently four full-time coaches to provide this service.

We enter tournaments at local, regional and national level. The main LTA school tournaments are for U13, U15, and U19 level. We also enter high level competition at Harpenden LTC and the Independent Schools Tennis Association tournament held at Eton each year. There are also numerous opportunities to play in school friendly matches and summer festivals of tennis. We are currently Kent County Champions at Junior and Intermediate level with our U13 team making it through to the second round of the regional knockout stage of the LTA National Year 7 and 8 Competition, having won their area. We have also made the LTA National Senior Students Finals, held in Bolton on numerous occasions.

One of our main goals is that our pupils carry on enjoying Tennis at whatever level many years after they have left Benenden.
