Benenden School are recruiting for Boarding and Activities Graduate Assistants to commence as soon as possible this term, or in September 2022, initially to August 2023, with the possibility of extension for a further year.

The successful candidate will be working within the Weekend Programme Team, event managing our Weekend Programme offering (planning and leading both on site events and UK and International trips) as well as working and supporting one or more Boarding Houses. The Houses are currently made up of around 40-60 students from years 8 -11. The working hours will include weekends and evenings as required, with some overnight responsibility, and may include some school holiday working when we have students on site in our activity camps. There may be an opportunity to be attached to an academic department where it should be possible to organise some form of teaching for those interested in a career in this field. A similar chance exists for work within an administrative department (such as Marketing and Development), according to your skills and interests and the school’s own needs, giving you a sense of the exciting variety of activities involved in running a boarding school.

Benenden is one of the leading boarding schools in Britain. We were founded in 1923 and are situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent. There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with 184 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls’ education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme, teaching the Sixth Form skills for the workplace. We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state-of-the-art Science Centre and All-Weather Sports Pitch, and we are currently working to establish a new School Hall and Music School.

At Benenden we know that everyone brings a unique perspective that adds to our community. We want to harness diverse thinking by bringing bright minds together. So, whoever you are and however you got here, we understand your contribution is one of a kind and helps us be a great school.

We want to attract, retain and develop diverse talent at all levels, so that we are a great school, but also so that our students feel and understand the power and depth of a diverse community. This means recruiting from the widest possible pool of talent, removing barriers that can prevent people from showing their full potential, and fostering a fully inclusive environment which maximises collaboration and empowers everyone.

Staff are provided with meals whilst on duty, catering for all tastes and dietary requirements. The School’s leisure facilities, including wonderful grounds, a fitness gym and swimming pool are also available for staff to use. Free accommodation is provided with this post.

For more information and to apply, please download the application from our website Completed applications to by 9am on Wednesday 2 February. The School will close this post early should they appoint to the position.

The post-holder will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children with whom they come into contact. They must ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. This appointment will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks. Benenden School is committed to equal opportunities and equal pay for all employees. Whilst Benenden isn’t accredited to the Living Wage Foundation, we do look to the Living Wage for guidance and our starting pay is currently in line with this.
