In January 2022 at One Great George Street, in the presence of The President of the Benenden Society, HRH The Princess Royal, Benenden School launched its ‘Be the Change’ initiative, to broaden access and opportunity at Benenden and more widely.
Through an initial three-year fundraising campaign the School seeks to triple the number of its fully-funded bursary places, currently standing at eight, so that by the end of the School’s centenary year in 2023-24 we will have 24 bursary funded students in the School at any given time.
These bursaries are fully means-tested, meaning they benefit students who would not otherwise be able to afford an education at Benenden and for whom such support will be truly transformative. Benenden awards up to 110% of fees, so that bursary pupils can experience all aspects of a Benenden education, with the additional funds covering School uniforms, educational trips and other ongoing learning and living expenses.
The first phase of Be the Change launches with a specific campaign to raise £5million.
As with previous fundraising campaigns, the success of Be the Change will be dependent upon the generosity of many parents, Seniors and friends of the School. Donations of all values are gratefully received and will quite literally change lives.
If you would like to discuss a possible gift or would like more information, please contact Kyle Johnson at kaj@benenden.school or on 01580 236742.
We are inviting donations of 10 per cent of fees as a regular or one-off gift, or £50 per month with a suggested timeframe of 60 months to match the average Bursary Recipient’s time at School.

“At Benenden we have always been proud of our commitment to bursaries and partnerships - and we are determined to do even more. We know that these issues are close to the hearts of our incredibly supportive community of parents, Seniors and friends and that together we will be able to make our Be the Change campaign an enormous success, which will benefit generations of young people at Benenden, pupils in our partner schools, our local community across the South East and our society as a whole.”
